Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra Men's Basketball team will finally return to action on Saturday, December 30 when it heads to Williamsburg, Virginia to face William & Mary to open Colonial Athletic Association play.
The Pride's CAA lid-lifter will tip at 4 p.m. from Kaplan Arena.
There will be Pride Productions live video and audio of the game, as well as live statistics. Links to all can be found on this page as well as the men's basketball schedule page at GoHofstra.com.
Hofstra (7-5) will start conference action coming off a seven-day layoff since dropping its last game to #1 Villanova on December 22 at NYCB Live, home of the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
It has been a tremendous start to the 2017-18 campaign for Hofstra junior
Justin Wright-Foreman as he leads Hofstra, the CAA and ranks 11th nationally in scoring with 23.2 points per outing. He has teamed with sophomore
Eli Pemberton to give the Pride one of the best scoring duos in the nation. In addition, senior
Rokas Gustys leads Hofstra, ranks second in the CAA and 14th nationally with 10.5 rebounds per game. Juniors
Desure Buie and
Kenny Wormley have paced the Pride offense in assists this season to the tune of 31 and 30 assists, respectively.
William & Mary is 7-4 this season and most recently suffered an 86-75 road loss to nationally-ranked Texas Christian on December 22. The Tribe is very balanced offensively, led by Nathan Knight's 18.7 points per game. Justin Pierce leads William & Mary with 9.2 rebounds, while David Cohn has dished out 79 assists this season.
In a series that has quickly become one of Hofstra's top rivalries, the Pride lead the all-time meetings, 19-12, with all the meetings occurring since Hofstra joined the CAA in the 2001-02 season. The team's split the two meetings last season with each winning on the opponent's home court. In addition to their regular season meetings over the past few years, the Pride and Tribe met in the CAA Championship semifinals in both 2014-15 and 2015-16.
The start of the CAA schedule will see Hofstra play four conference games from December 30 – January 7 as the Pride will head to Northeastern on January 2 before hosting James Madison on January 5 and Elon on January 7.
